Brand Introduction
“Hatsukokoro” comes from the Japanese proverb meaning “never forget your original intention.”
The name uses the soft kun-yomi reading of “初心,” symbolizing a spirit of sincerity and passion.
The brand continues to develop products that bring freshness and pleasant surprises to customers.
Material Introduction
V-Toku-2 is a high-purity alloy carbon steel developed by Takefu Special Steel, inspired by Hitachi’s classic Blue Paper #2 steel.
Its composition closely resembles Blue #2, but with added tungsten (W) and vanadium (V), refined with advanced smelting techniques to achieve fewer impurities and finer grain structure.
🌸Features & Performance
* High carbon content (≈1.05%), hardness up to HRC 62–64 with excellent quenchability.
* Added vanadium and tungsten promote fine carbide formation, improving wear resistance and edge retention over Blue #2.
* Outstanding cutting performance with a thin, smooth, and sharp blade feel.
* Excellent machinability: stable heat treatment and better grindability than some other high-hardness steels.
* As a high-carbon alloy steel, it is reactive and should be kept dry and oiled regularly.
