Brand Introduction:
Seki Kanetsugu is a prestigious cutlery manufacturer from Seki City with more than 700 years of Japanese sword-forging heritage.
Its origins trace back to the mid-14th century, when the first-generation smith Kanetsugu began forging swords in Mino.
Through the Nanboku-chō, Muromachi, Sengoku, and Edo periods, the Kanetsugu lineage remained devoted to traditional sword craftsmanship.
In 1918, Matsujirō Kawamura, a descendant of the Kanetsugu family, founded Seki Kanetsugu Hamono Co. and transitioned the craft from sword-making to modern kitchen knife production.
The brand strives to recreate the sharpness of Japanese swords in kitchen blades by blending traditional forging with modern technology.
Steel Introduction:
VG10 contains approximately:
C 1.0%, Cr 15%, V 0.2–0.3%, Mo 1.0%, Co 1.5%.
It offers excellent hardness, durability, edge retention, and corrosion resistance, making it highly suitable for kitchen environments.
Knife Model Introduction:
The Santoku is a versatile Japanese all-purpose kitchen knife designed for slicing, chopping, and dicing.
Its short, wide blade makes it ideal for handling meat, fish, and vegetables, and its ease of use makes it one of the most popular daily-use knife shapes for home cooking.
