⭕Takeshi Saji is one of the master craftsmen of Echizen, from Fukui Prefecture, the third-generation successor of Saji Uchihamono.
He originally specialized in hunting knives and outdoor knives, giving his kitchen knives a rugged and bold aesthetic.
Saji combines traditional forging techniques with creative modern designs, producing knives that are both artistic and exceptionally sharp.
Due to low production volume, his works are highly sought after by collectors. Today, Saji Uchihamono is continued by his son-in-law, Kazuo Nomura.
Steel Introduction:
⭕VG10-W:
Produced by Takefu Special Steel in Japan, capable of achieving hardness above ≈HRC 61.
By adding Tungsten (W) to standard VG10, it becomes VG10-W.
Tungsten forms fine, hard carbides that greatly enhance wear resistance, edge retention, and heat-treatment stability.
Compared to standard VG10, VG10-W offers ≈20% higher durability and ≈25% better cutting performance.
This steel is suitable not only for premium kitchen knives but also for industrial and outdoor blades requiring high abrasion
resistance.
