Brand Introduction:
⭕Babahamo Blade Works, founded in 1916, is based in Sakai — the birthplace of a 600-year Japanese blade-making tradition.
Their craft emphasizes harmony between blacksmiths and sharpeners, working together to pursue the highest standards of knife-making.
Forging:
Blacksmiths heat steel to over 1000°C, forge-weld it with soft iron, then proceed through multiple processes including forge-welding, shaping, center correction, rough forging, coarse grinding, back shaping, and heat treatment.
Sharpening:
Sharpeners focus on water-based work, using a variety of stones from rough grinding to final finishing. They also correct microscopic distortions in the blade to achieve optimal cutting performance.
Handle Mounting:
After stamping the blade, craftsmen fit the handle carefully to ensure perfect alignment, followed by a final sharpening to complete the knife.
Steel Introduction:
⭕Chromax steel is a next-generation semi-stainless steel developed by Takefu Special Steel.
Based on high-carbon steel with approx. 5% chromium added, it reaches ≈HRC 64–65 after heat treatment.
It maintains the exceptional sharpness and easy sharpening feel of carbon steel while offering significantly improved corrosion resistance — achieving a well-balanced performance between sharpness and maintenance.
Knife Model Introduction:
⭕Santoku: a versatile Japanese kitchen knife designed for slicing, chopping, and dicing. Its shorter, wider blade makes it easy to control, ideal for cutting meat, fish, and vegetables in everyday cooking.
