Brand Introduction:
⭕️Morihiro Hamono
Founded in Showa 36 (1961) by the first generation Morihiro, the forge has a history of over 60 years and is now led by the second generation, Yasuaki Taira. Although considered a relatively young factory compared to the century-old ones in Sakai, its knife-making and sharpening techniques have received extremely high praise. Forging and sharpening are all handled solely by Yasuaki Taira. His unique "Choji Midare" hamon has captivated many. The certificates are also handwritten by Taira, who persists in tradition. Due to this dedication to Japanese tradition, orders increase every year, but due to low production volume, the waiting time is currently up to eight years.
⭕️Yasuaki Taira
As the second generation of "Morihiro Forging Factory," Mr. Yasuaki Taira handles every step from high-temperature hand forging and heat treatment to detailed sharpening entirely by himself. His near-obsessive persistence with traditional techniques allows him to precisely control every minute detail of the knife. A Japanese TV program once tested a knife forged by Taira, and it actually split a flying bullet in two!
Taira's proudest achievement is his unique "Choji Midare" hamon (temper line). The pattern on each knife is like a unique painting. Even the certificate attached to the knife is handwritten by Taira himself, with every stroke revealing his respect and persistence for traditional Japanese culture.
Material Introduction:
⭕️Tamahagane
Tamahagane is the traditional steel material used for making Japanese swords (Katana), derived from the ancient "Tatara" ironmaking tradition. Craftsmen strictly select high-quality iron sand and charcoal, heating and reducing them in layers in a traditional furnace for several days and nights to extract an iron bloom called "Kera," from which the purest high-carbon steel is selected. These precious steels undergo repeated folding and forging in the hands of the swordsmith, not only removing impurities but also endowing the blade with excellent performance combining extreme hardness and toughness, while presenting a unique and beautiful "Hamon." Tamahagane is not just a raw material for knives but a supreme symbol of Japanese traditional craft aesthetics and samurai culture.
🌸Features and Value:
.Hardness and Toughness: Japanese swords made of Tamahagane possess both extremely high hardness and good toughness, keeping the tool sharp without breaking easily.
.Aesthetics: The hamon of Tamahagane knives is unique; the texture of each knife is one-of-a-kind, holding high artistic and collection value.
.Tradition and Culture: The production of Tamahagane is an important part of traditional Japanese crafts and a symbol of Japanese samurai culture.
